Looking for Fun Things
to do as a Family?
Here are some things the Coleman Family did over last summer that were fun for us all.
Storyland (Glen, NH)
We had a lot of fun at Storyland. It was perfect for our kids at the ages and sizes they are right now, Bode (4) and Zoe (3). Zoe was a bit small (under 36”) for some of the rides and we had to sit her out, but seeing Cinderella's castle made her forget about all the things she couldn’t do. We all had a great time at Storyland and will defiantly do it again next year.
Camping at Grand Isle State Park, VT
Grand Isle, VT is about 15 mins outside of Burlington making it a perfect camping spot with plenty to do to keep our family busy. The campground was clean, private and very kid friendly with a swimming area, playground and nature center. We spent 3 nights here and loved it, despite some rainy weather on the 4th morning when we were packing up. The area is beautiful and there was plenty to do without spending much money. Below are some day trips we took while in VT.
Grand Isle Fish Hatchery Tour
This was a fun stop. Since Jesse grew up on a trout farm in VT and we lived at the State Hatchery at the Maine Wildlife Park for 5 years, we naturally could not resist a visit to this FREE tour. It was much more then we expected with a small kid oriented nature center with games, information and more. as we walked the park we saw wildlife, historic buildings and more. Definitely worth a stop.
Snow Farm Winery Tasting and Tour, South Hero, VT
On the way back to camp we saw a sign for wine tasting in South Hero, VT. As wine enthusiasts (in Healthy Moderation of course) we loved this stop. Nice vineyard and gift shop and of course the wine was great. We were only there about 15mins since we had the kids, but it was worth it.
Sandy Beach State Park, South Hero VT
Great Beach, swim area, clean, everything was great despite the clouds!! Addmission was free with State Park Camping Pass!
Echo Center (Burlington, VT)
Awesome, a must do in Burlington. Great for kids and fun for adults. Like an aquarium with a children’s museum all in one. We spent the whole afternoon!
Vermont Teddy Bear Factory Tour
This was so fun for the kids, they loved the tour and the teddy bear museum! Addmission was low priced. Great for kids!
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory Tour (Waterbury, VT)
Yes the Coleman’s do eat icecream, in moderation of course. This was great, lots to do, the tour was interesting for adults, not as much for our little one’s but the free samples made it all worth the trip....YUM!
Bounce-Zone/Splash Zone (Saco, Maine)
Great Rainy day activity. The kids loved it!!! Only $8/kid and adults were free. No age limits means the facility had Stacey and Jesse bouncing and running around like they were the kids. FUN!!!
3D Movie “UP” (Cinemagic IMax Theater Saco, Maine)
Great Movie, 3D was cool. The kids liked the glasses and the arcade. Great for rainy days. The Movie was good, funny for parents and kids alike.
New England Aquarium
A must do no matter how old you are! Not far from Gorham, we left our home at 10am and returned that night. We all had a blast!
Walk Downtown Boston
This was fun, the kids liked the puddles the best, since it had just poured. Lots of sight seeing. We ran through the fountains and looked at the historic buildings. Wish we had more time to spend!! We had dinner at Cheer’s, good food, good atmosphere!
Kettle Cove Beach Day (Cape Elizabeth)
Great! This is our favorite beach! Must go early to get a parking space but admission is free! Hiking, swimming, grassy picnic area.
Baxter Library Teddy Bear Picnic
Baxter Library Painting and Picnic in the Park
Concert in the Gazebo (Gorham)
Kiwanis Beach (Standish, Maine)
Bridgton Twin Drive-In (Bridgton, Maine)
